The creation of this portal site was prompted by a sense that human and especially religious diversity is often not appreciated as a fundamental ingredient in the British past and present. Not only is Christianity undervalued but so too are other faith traditions. Both personal and political decisions invariably get taken in the midst of complex and ambiguous circumstances. We do well to ponder more.
The material content was gathered by Brian Gates, a retired professor of St Martin's College Lancaster and the University of Cumbria, with encouragement from former colleagues there. 
The technical design was the work of Chris Rowbotham of weboutreach.co.uk.
